SpunkI was excited when I was contacted by the creator of Spunk Lube to review Spunk Lube’s Pure Silicone. I’d been pining for a silicone lube that was compatible with silicone toys for awhile. I love my water-based lubes, but they always seem to dry up on me after awhile. With lightening fast speed, my Spunk Lube was sent to me. It ships from California, I live in California, and it gets shipped the same day it’s ordered.

I’ve always been wary about lubes that say “Compatible with all materials!” I haven’t tried any on my toys because of that uneasiness. But, I have a Ryder that I set aside a few months ago, just for testing lubes. Ryder is a butt plug by Tantus and this one was defectively cut. I was sent a replacement, so I kept the old one exclusively for this purpose. I figured what better silicone to try lubes on? Tantus’ silicone is extremely hardy and is 100% platinum silicone. Plus, it’s the brand that dominates my collection. I mark it as the best silicone to do testing on before trying a lube on something seemly delicate, like Vixskin from Vixen Creations.
And, so began my testing.

spunk test 1The first time I tested the Pure Silicone, I put two drops of the Pure Silicone on Ryder for 5-7 minutes. After that time I wiped it away, and the silicone where the lube had been, was raised. I contacted a fellow blogger seeking advice on where to go next with my findings. I thought, “Great. A product that doesn’t work”, and here’s where I freaked out. After getting advice from my friend, I went back to the Ryder to look at it again, and THE SILICONE LOOKED PERFECT. I couldn’t believe it. The silicone was no longer swollen!

spunk test 2I asked other bloggers if this was normal behavior, and the response I got from them was this was normal for silicone lubes on Tantus toys. I asked Metis Black, president of Tantus Inc., why it swells and then goes back down. She replied, “silicone lube is trying to bond but the electrons are complete in the silicone”. She was on vacation, but still took the time to answer my question. [How awesome is that?] So from what I can gather, quality silicone lube with quality silicone toy, means they will work together, but they still have a chemical reaction. When I scraped the swollen area with my fingernail, the silicone toy did remain intact. The Pure Silicone lube did not cause any weaknesses.

Ingredients: Dimethicone, Dimethiconol, Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane

It does not contain parabens or glycerin, and is hypoallergenic. It’s odorless, tasteless, and is completely clear. I literally just ran upstairs, put some on my hand, stuck my nose in it, and licked it off of my hand. No after taste, and no weird, oily feeling in my mouth either.

In Use:

When I put some of the Pure Silicone on my finger tips I was amazed at how smooth my skin felt. It wasn’t like other silicone lubes I’ve tried where I’m left feeling like I have baby oil on my hands. It wiped off easily, and it rubbed into my skin nicely. The look of the Pure Silicone is clear, and it moves quickly over skin and silicone. So, if you put it on the tip of a real dick or silicone dick, you need to spread it quickly. Otherwise it’s going to drip all over the place. Using it with a glass toy was difficult since it was hard to keep a handle on the toy, because the Pure Silicone doesn’t dissipate. I had to wipe the toy and my hand to get a decent grip to continue thrusting. The Pure Silicone kept me slick for about 5 minutes of thrusting, and I had to reapply. After I did, things went well for about 10 minutes. By that time, I was finished and the lube was starting to dwindle. After that session I washed my hand towel and the lube didn’t leave any stains, whatsoever. Always a plus. Nothing worse than your sheets looking like you got a wrestling match covered in grease. I did use it with my Ryder (not the tester), and I have to say it surprised me. It had been awhile since my anal session, and usually I have to take it slow or try a few times, but my toy went in smoothly with no problems. After I let go of my cheeks, the excess wasn’t an issue. Usually with a water-based lube, I have to wipe with the other side of my hand towel, or else my whole ass feels wet. Not with the Pure Silicone. I still had quite a bit on my cheeks, but it was comfortable more than anything. The base of my toy moved comfortably with my body, with no indication of chafing (that can occur with water-based lubes).  I can say with no hesitation that I’ll be reaching for Pure Silicone first for anal toys in the near future.

When it came time to fuck with it vaginally, we liked it, but after about 5 minutes we had to reapply. When I contacted Spunk Lube’s creator, he told me that more skin means more lube. When we did apply more lube, things went better, but my husband still had to reach for more. I have an IUD and I don’t produce much vaginal fluid during sex because of it, so that could be a factor. Still I have other lubes that I don’t have use as much or reapply. Of the small bottle, I’m almost out, after two silicone toy tests, two anal toys, two vaginal sex sessions, and one glass toy vaginally. When I go to buy Spunk Lube Pure Silicone, I’ll be getting a larger bottle, and use it exclusively for anal. I have been in dire need to get some thicker lube for anal play, but honestly, I don’t think I need to look any farther. I won’t be using it for vaginal sex or vaginal toy play, though. It just takes too much and doesn’t last long enough. Perhaps it’s because I prefer to feel wet, and not just slick, during vaginal sex. I’m am, however, looking forward to trying out the Hybrid and Pink Spunk lubes for vaginal sex and toy play. They look extremely promising, and who doesn’t want to try a lube that looks like real Spunk?

Thanks again to Spunk Lube for sending me this sample to review.

  1. Interesting info. I’ve heard rumors of silicone lube being compatible with some silicone toys or vice versa, but hard to find anything concrete about it.There’s an odd space in my brain filed away for these things.

    • I had trouble finding info too. Fortunately I was able to talk to other bloggers and Tantus about it. When I try it on Vixskin I’ll post about it too. 🙂
